The Braun Cruzer 6 Beard & Head Trimmer is a popular trimmer that is designed for shaving both your head and your beard, and includes a detailing blade to make it a true All In One set up.
When you get your Braun Cruzer 6 Beard & Head Trimmer, you’ll receive the trimmer itself, a beard comb, a head comb, and a travel pouch – that’s it. No fumbling around with 10 different comb guide attachments.
The idea here is that you use the head comb for cutting your hair (duh), and the beard comb for cutting your beard. The difference between them is that the beard guide has 6 settings between 1mm and 11mm, whereas the head comb is longer and gives you a 10mm to 20mm range, with 6 different settings.
It’s not like you can’t use the beard comb on your head and vice versa, so at the end of the day, you’ve got 12 length options spread between 1mm and 20mm. That’s a pretty big spread when compared with some other trimmers. The only thing that would make it more appealing is if the increments were smaller (1mm increments or .5mm increments, for example).
You’ll get about 40 minutes of use out of this unit, depending on the intensity of your shave. While that’s sort of middle of the pack, it is quite good considering it has the dual battery function. It is made completely acceptable, however, by the fact that it’s got a 1 hour charge time. That’s right there at the top with only a few other trimmers, so the charge Cruzer 6 gets points for the convenience of it’s minimal charge time.
Note that you can also use the Braun while it’s plugged in, which makes it a good choice if you’ve got some serious beard work to do, or you prefer the constant and consistent power that comes from your wall outlet as opposed to the battery.
Suggested cleaning, other than taking off the comb to remove thick hair build up, is to simply run the blades under water, which is handy. You might still need to give it more of a clean with a cleaning brush if hairs get stuck in the blades, but that comes with the product.
The detailing blade pops up from the body of the unit to extend over the main trimming area. All you need to do is slide it up with your thumb and it will lock in. If you’ve got any sort of detailing areas that need close, precise work, this will get you by in a pinch, although for the average beard groomer, it won’t add much to your experience, particularly because the main cutting head isn’t that wide to begin with and does a pretty good job at edging. Just be careful not to cut yourself with it while the trimmer is running, as it will run while the unit is turned on.
In terms of the day to day use, you’ll likely find this unit is a treat to use. It’s very quiet and lightweight, so it feels great in your hand, is easy to use, and won’t drive you crazy with a loud buzz like a lot of other beard trimmers. The heads are quite bulky (and frankly not the best quality), so you might not be able to get a great mustache/under the nose trim.
